PATTAYA – Three floating restaurants have been cautioned to make sure they properly dispose of their garbage following a video showing garbage stacked up on their sterns, with some slipping overboard.

Pattaya Deputy Mayor Bandit Kunnajukr chaired an April 26 meeting on the restaurant boats popular with Asian tour groups a month after the video circulated.

Following the controversy, a recent inspection found that the Navachakprad, Piriyapong, and New Oriental were storing all their rubbish in black bags at the stern of each boat and no trash was found in the sea around them.

Nonetheless, Bandit said, all three operators were advised that any subsequent pollution could result in fines and possible revocation of their licenses.
