About 2,000 evacuees from flood zones in central Thailand and Bangkok are a bit worried and bored, but otherwise doing well at temporary shelters at Sattahip’s Air and Costal Defense Command.

Navy Region 1 Commander Chumpol Wongwekhin visited the refugees housed in hangers at the ACDC’s airstrips Oct. 31. He said he was impressed at the effort personnel were putting in. The shelters offer medical staff and patrol units. Severely ill evacuees are being taken to Queen Sirikit Medical Center.

The commander noted, however, that many of the evacuees were bored, worried and frightened. He ordered Sattahip Naval Base officers to organize activities to keep the displaced residents occupied and happy.
