Chonburi immigration police arrested two foreign men for possession of 10 kilograms of untaxed “baraku” shisha tobacco.

Sheikh Mohammad Mohammad Hanif 33, carrying a UAE ID, and Lebanese national Omar El Khatib, 21, were apprehended May 18 at the Lebanese restaurant in South Pattaya, while working on the eatery’s renovation.

A search of the building unearthed 10 cans of baraku, the tobacco used in shisha pipes, containing a kilogram each.

Police said the two men confessed to buying the baraku from a restaurant in Central Festival Pattaya Beach.

They were charged with working illegally in the kingdom, possession of baraku without legal tobacco-tax stamps, and offering shisha for sale.
