PATTAYA, Thailand – A new childcare facility (young female independent house) was officially opened at the Child Protection and Development Center (CPDC) in Huai Yai, East Pattaya, to accommodate the growing number of children under its care.
The opening ceremony, held on February 16, was presided over by Mrs. Ratchada Chomchinda, Director of the HHN Foundation for Thai Children, on behalf of Mr. Sorasit Sunthornket, Chairman of the foundation. Mr. Siromet Akharapongpanich, Director of the center, also participated in the event, alongside distinguished guests including Mrs. Nittaya Patimasongkroh, President of the YWCA Bangkok-Pattaya Center, Mr. Pratheep Singh Malhotra, former Rotary District Governor of District 3340 as well as the longtime benefactor Mr. Didier Moly, Chief Executive of Les Amis de L’Ophelinate de Pattaya.
Key supporters of the renovation project, Miss Heidi and Miss Simone Glemeau, representatives from a German women’s group, who generously donated 1 million baht, were also in attendance. Their contributions helped renovate and improve the center’s facilities to provide a better living environment for the children. Guests also toured the center’s sustainable agricultural projects, including fish farming, cricket farming, and aquaponic organic vegetable cultivation, aimed at providing long-term self-sufficiency and development opportunities for the children.
.The Child Protection and Development Center collaborates with government agencies, such as the Chonburi Provincial Office of Social Development and Human Security, to protect children’s rights. The center provides shelter and rehabilitation for socially vulnerable children, including homeless or orphaned children, abandoned children and children whose parents are unable to provide care.
Through this partnership, the foundation serves as a bridge between vulnerable children and government agencies, ensuring their well-being, education, and emotional recovery. The center currently cares for nearly 100 children, and the newly renovated facilities will enhance their quality of life, providing a safer and more supportive environment.
