Pattaya will expedite the leveling of Thepprasit Road after yet more misinformation sparked another social media drama.

Deputy Mayor Manote Nongyai toured the street with Chonburi Gov. Thawatchai Srithong and Deputy Gov. Naris Niramaiwong Nov. 1.

A major flood-drainage project has been ongoing on Thepprasit Road and new pipes have been laid under the north side of the road with traffic lanes reopened. However, 100 sewer grates are seven centimeters higher than the unfinished road surface.

Uniformed keyboard warriors posted on Facebook that contractors did a poor job and that city hall failed to inspect the work, leaving an uneven road surface that created traffic hazards.

Chonburi Governor Thawatchai suggested that Pattaya change plans and resurface north side of the road that is already done before digging up the south side of Thepprasit Road.

Manote said all the online banter was wrong and that the project wasn’t finished yet. Impatient people were stirring up trouble with misinformation.

The deputy mayor said the contractor next plans to pour concrete along the completed side of Thepprasit, leaving it completely level.

The original plan was to complete the road surfacing once the pipes under the other half of the road were laid. Thawatchai suggested that Pattaya change plans and resurface the half of Thepprasit that already is done.

Manote, of course, agreed to the “suggestion”.

No date was announced for when the work will be done, which will require half of Thepprasit be closed temporarily.
