A Greek man who said his passport was damaged was arrested for overstaying his visa by more than two years.
Nikita Komissarov, 41, was apprehended in the lobby of a high-end hotel on Pratamnak Hill Sept. 24. An inspection of his passport found he had overstayed by two years and four days.
Komissarov admitted he was overstaying his visa for Thailand and was aware that he was committing a crime. However, he argued that his passport was damaged and he was afraid to exit the country, thinking that he may have complications while going through immigration. So he decided to stay put and keep a low profile.
He was prepared for deportation and will be blacklisted from the kingdom for 10 years.
