Chonburi’s Public Health Department is urging the province’s health-industry businesses to apply for official certification as part of its push to make Thailand a center for health-related tourism by 2014.
Pattaya Permanent Secretary Pakorn Sukhonthachat greeted department Deputy Director Rattanapat Sotewnit and members of the Consumer Protection and Public Health Pharmacy, and Inspection and Standard Evaluation of Health Businesses committees July 24.
The push for health-related tourists focuses on nursing, health services, Thai medicine and Thai herbs. To date, 48 businesses – 29 spas, 18 health massage parlors and 11 beauty massage parlors – have registered. Rattanapat noted not all businesses are approved, saying several have been rejected already.
Certification gives confidence to customers about the quality of the health businesses, she said.
Health business operators can contact the Chonburi Public Health Ministry through the Pattaya Call Center at 1337.
