PATTAYA, Thailand – The Thai Meteorological Department has issued a weather forecast indicating that northern Thailand will experience extremely hot weather in some areas. The department advises the public to take precautions and care for their health due to the intense heat. Meanwhile, the southern region will see minimal rainfall, and Bangkok, Pattaya, and surrounding areas will have hot weather with isolated thunderstorms.
The weather forecast for the next 24 hours predicts that northern Thailand will be generally hot with some areas experiencing extreme heat and hazy conditions. This is caused by a low-pressure system from the heat covering northern Thailand, combined with the southwest and south winds. These conditions will bring thunderstorms with gusty winds to certain areas. The public is urged to avoid outdoor activities in open spaces for extended periods and be cautious of the dangers from thunderstorms and strong winds.
For the southern region, the easterly and southeasterly winds over the Gulf of Thailand, southern Thailand, and the Andaman Sea are weak, leading to little rainfall. The sea conditions around the Gulf of Thailand and the Andaman Sea are calm, with waves approximately 1 meter high, and higher waves in areas experiencing thunderstorms.
In Pattaya, the weather is expected to be hot with isolated thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening, similar to Bangkok. The temperature in Pattaya will range between 26-28°C during the night and rise to 34-38°C during the day. Residents and tourists are advised to stay hydrated, avoid extended exposure to the sun, and seek shelter during storms.
Additionally, from March 29 to April 1, a moderate high-pressure system from China will extend to northern Vietnam, northern Laos, the northeast, and the South China Sea. This will bring easterly and southeasterly winds with moisture to northern Thailand, which is already experiencing hot conditions. This will likely cause seasonal storms, characterized by thunderstorms, strong winds, and hail in some areas, along with possible lightning strikes.
The public in northern Thailand, including Pattaya, is advised to be cautious of these storms, avoid traveling through storm-affected areas, and stay away from open spaces, tall trees, unstable structures, and billboards. Farmers should secure fruit-bearing trees and prepare for potential agricultural and livestock damage, while also taking care of their health amidst the weather changes.
As for air quality, dust and haze accumulation in the northern and northeastern regions is expected to be moderate to high due to the weak winds in the area.
In Bangkok, Pattaya, and surrounding areas, the weather will be generally hot with hazy conditions, along with isolated thunderstorms. The minimum temperature will be between 26-28°C, with the maximum temperature reaching 34-38°C.
