Nongprue Public Health officers sprayed pesticides around the Nong Mai Kan government housing development Nov. 14 to quell the infestation, which sprung from the home of Krit Sukontarattana.

Krit says he grows Rangoon Creeper plants, which were attacked two weeks ago by thousands of the hairy, orange insects. They munched on the trees and spread out on the ground, sparking complaints from neighbors.

He said he sprayed his own bug killer, but the infestation was too large. Furthermore, the bugs spread to neighboring lawns, causing more damage.
