Police arrested an Indian tour guide for stealing a loaded wallet a South Korean tourist left at a currency exchange.

Maulik Nareshkumar Savaliya, 32, was taken into custody July 23, shortly after he admitted taking a wallet belonging to Inn Kim, 62.

Kim forgot the wallet containing 9,100 baht and 6,000 Korean won at an exchange booth on Soi 3 and Beach Road. By the time he went back to get it, Savaliya had already pocketed it.

The Indian, who said he came to Pattaya to work for a tour company, led police to his apartment on Naklua Soi 27. None of the money had been spent.

He was charged with theft.
