Police are searching for the parents of an infant found buried at a Takhiantia shrine.
Police were called to the Poh Kaer Shrine in Tungtakrai village Sept. 16 after a groundskeeper discovered the miscarried baby boy, approximately six months into the pregnancy, buried in a shallow grave. The infant was covered in blood and on top of the grave were three scented candles.
Caretaker Buapan Khampawa, 65, told police a group of five young men and women came to the shrine a day prior. She asked what they were doing and was told they were there to bury one of the women’s unborn child after she had a miscarriage.
Buapan became suspicious and investigated the area after the group left.
Police are now trying to identify the parents.
