City Manager Pramote Tubtim, said that poor training of poll workers led to problems in two of the city’s four constituencies which may lead to holding new elections.

Pattaya may have to rerun ballots due to irregularities preventing even unofficial vote tallies.

City Manager Pramote Tubtim, who served as election director, admitted that poor training of poll workers led to problems in two of the city’s four constituencies. While he’s hopeful the Chonburi Election Commission will certify the votes in three-to-four weeks, he said a new election also is possible.

Pramote said that station No. 2 in the first constituency and No. 20 in the fourth constituency each reported a missing set of ballot sheets for the mayoral race. Poll stations No. 29 in the second constituency and No. 5 in the third constituency gave city council ballots to voters eligible to vote only for the mayor.

Finally, he admitted that many voters were unsure where to vote, pointing to inadequate information provided to citizens.
All the issues were reported to the Election Commission, which could take up to a month to make its decision on how to proceed.
