Cooking competitions, Northeast dance contests, music and shopping will highlight the second Pattaya Issan Festival March 27-29 at Pattaya School No. 8.
The festival, sponsored by the Pattaya Issan Association, Pattaya City Hall, the Tourism Authority of Thailand, Chonburi Province, the Food Institute, and Ministry of Industry will feature a somtam-making contest, other food competitions and traditional northeastern cultural shows.
Unlike last year, there will be no parade due to traffic-congestion issues.
Musical performers scheduled to appear include Sanuk Signmart, Ja Wit, R-Siam, Petch Phuthipong, Nittaya Sarakham, Nueng Palanchai, and Molam Sing.
The transvestite cabarets from Mimosa Pattaya and Alcazar Pattaya also will put on shows.
Other activities include balloon shooting, ring fishing, a Ferris wheel and food offerings from the area’s many Issan restaurants.
Young dancers put on a show to spice up the press conference announcing the upcoming Issan festival.
