Japanese embassy officials thanked the Chonburi Immigration Office for apprehending a gangster accused of stealing 30 million baht in luxury-brand goods from southern Japan homes over the past 20 years.
Pol. Lt. Col. Sajiao Hinachiura, the embassy’s second secretary and consul, congratulated officers at the Jomtien Beach office Sept. 19, two weeks after Hiroyuki Goto, 40, was arrested.
Although he was wanted on an arrest warrant in Fukuoka, Japan, Goto entered Thailand 13 times since Sept 27, 2017, most recently on July 27.
He was arrested a month later when he appeared the Jomtien immigration office.
His gang of 25 reportedly burglarized wealthy houses and apartments, coming away with 100 million yen in goods. Ten other gang members already have been apprehended. Goto was prepared for extradition.
