Pattaya police arrested a jilted boyfriend who allegedly stabbed his former lover after she spurned his birthday wish.

Watcharin U-Sabai, 25, suffered two stab wounds to the back and one to the abdomen from a kitchen knife at her mother’s house in Naklua Nov. 28.

Neighbors grabbed Jumpol Chunuan, 38, as he ran from the house and held him for police.

Witnesses said the two had been a couple, but Watcharin broke up with Jumpol a week ago. A few days later, on Watcharin’s birthday, Jumpol sent her well wishes for the occasion.

Jumpol told police she replied with hurtful words and the suspect admitted he “lost his mind” in anger and went to Watcharin’s house and stabbed her.
