Kan Air expands flight offerings at U-Tapao

Thai commuter airline Kan Air moved U-Tapao Pattaya International Airport another step closer to becoming a regional aviation hub with the launch of four new domestic routes.

The media was invited for the carrier’s first flight out of the military-run Rayong airport to Hat Yai in Songkhla Province May 29. The flight was hosted by Kan executives Kanti Sridama and Chutikarn Suksawat, along with Seree Techatungka, deputy director of Hat Yai International Airport.

Kanti said that Kannithi Aviation Co. was founded by Maj. Sompong Suksanguan in 2010 with its base in Chiang Mai, from which it serves 10 routes. It uses two types of aircraft: Cessna Grand Caravans with 12 seats and ATR 72-500 with 66 seats.

From U-Tapao, seven destinations are now available: Chiang Mai, Ubon Ratchathani, Udon Thani, Phuket, Hat Yai, Surat Thani, and Bangkok (Don Muang).

Kan Air offers four flights a week from U-Tapao to both Ubon Ratchathani and Udon Thani and three a week to Chiang Mai. It has adopted aggressive pricing to develop flights out of U-Tapao with flat fares starting from 490 baht one-way, including a hot meal.
