The Khao Talo Community offered free handmade black ribbons and bows to those morning the late HM the King.
Resident Ratchanok Srisupan led the group of residents who set up a booth near the entrance of Soi Khao Talo 8 Oct. 21.
She said the idea to offer free black ribbons and bows came after seeing the prices for black clothing skyrocket and supplies dwindle following the Oct. 13 death of the beloved monarch. Not everyone can afford new clothes and ribbons are acceptable alternatives, she noted.
The volunteers had no intent on making money and did their good deed simply as merit making. But their generosity was rewarded by charity organizations and businesses who saw what they did and contributed cash and items that could be resold.
In return, Ratchanok said the community would use the proceeds to teach students who to make their own ribbons and bows.
Two shops will continue to hand out ribbons and bows while supplies are available: Krua Kwan Rak and Ton Soi on Soi Khao Talo 8.
