Pattaya workers cleared out sewers on Soi Khao Talo following complaints about flooding.
A crew of seven sanitation workers used a vacuum truck and hand tools to clear the underground pipes of sand and garbage June 27.
Residents had complained the drains were clogged with storm runoff and rubbish tossed in by careless neighbors and street vendors. The backup not only exacerbated flooding, but stunk up the neighborhood as well, they said.
They also used high-powered water hoses to blast through blockages on tunnels they couldn’t penetrate with spades and hoes.
The work started in the morning and went on for several hours. The workers apologized for any inconvenience and said they will be going around clearing out more pipes in the area.
