Sattahip District Chief Noraset Sritapatso announces Khet Udomsak is expanding its “White Community” project across the sub-district to battle illegal drug use at the grass-roots level.

Sattahip District Chief Noraset Sritapatso chaired the Nov. 9 launch event at the sub-district municipal office with Mayor Pairoj Malakul Na Ayutthaya, who outlined the goals of the project.

The mayor said the White Community project aims to fight drugs by educating youths and encouraging them to do other things that benefit society.

Sports play a major part in the project, but organizers also try to educate parents to become good examples.

Pairoj said the White Community projects in the Yaek Je and Dongtan neighborhoods have been chosen as example programs for the rest of the sub-district.

Noraset said past anti-drug activities have been successful in decreasing the numbers of drug users, but arrests also play a part, with youth offenders send to drug rehab camps.
