The end of September also marked the end of a 36-year career in civil service for Chonburi Gov. Khomsan Ekachai, who retired at age 60.
Khomsan and his wife Busarawadee made the rounds of several sacred shrines and monuments to pay their last respects and ask for blessings upon the end of his term Sept. 30.
Government and military officials face mandatory retirement at age 60. Khomsan turns 61 on Oct. 12.
After graduating from Thammasat University, Khomsan was named secretary for a Nakhon Phanom district. He got his first province-wide office in 2005 when he was named deputy governor. He served as governor of Nong Khai and Udon Thani before being named Chonburi’s top executive in 2011. (CPRD)
