About 60 students learned the perils of illegal narcotics from Pattaya’s award-winning anti-drug program.
Soi Kophai Community President Wirat Joyjinda welcomed former Pattaya mayoral advisor Nikom Sangkaew to the Nov. 23 workshop for primary and high school students from area public and private schools.
Members of the community board lectured on the downsides and dangers of drug use. The attendees visited and studied at the Mother of the Land Fund program run by the Kophai Community, which has been hailed as a national example of an effective grass-roots drug-prevention program.
The program focuses on intervening with non-serious drug users, sending them to rehabilitation programs rather than to jail.
