Local and tourist police last night arrested more than 40 Kuwaiti tourists, aged 18-25, in Pattaya and charged them with street racing.
The arrest of these foreign teenagers came after local residents complained of street racing by foreign nationals throughout Thursday night till early Friday, making loud noises.
About 50 police and volunteers then set up road blocks on the beach roads and rounded over 40 youths, all Kuwaitis, and seized 26 motorcycles, all rented.
Police said most seized motorcycles were illegally modified for racing.
Some also have no proper documents of registration.
Initially the police will charge these Kuwaiti tourists with reckless driving while motorcycle rental operators would be asked to produce necessary documents for the return of their bikes.
Police said legal action would be considered to be taken against the owners who failed to produce proper papers.
For the illegal modified exhaust pipes of the motorcycles, they would be destroyed.
