Putting a new twist on the old adage that laughter is the best medicine, the Bangkok Hospital Group will offer free heart exams to 555 patients throughout the Eastern Seaboard.
Dr. Pichit Kangkoljit, executive vice president of Bangkok Hospital’s Eastern and South regions, kicked off the “Laughing for a Better Heart” program Sept. 4 at Bangkok Hospital Pattaya. He said facilities in Pattaya, Rayong, Chantaburi and Trat will test 555 people as the number translates to “ha ha ha” in Thai.
Directors and vice-directors of Bangkok Hospital Rayong, Bangkok Hospital Pattaya, Bangkok Hospital Trat and Bangkok Hospital Chanthaburi launch the Laughing for Better Hearts project.
At the press conference, doctors from the various hospitals summarized the program, offering tips on cardiac health and treatment before leading attendees on a tour of the cardiac unit.
The “Laughing for a Better Heart” program runs through Oct. 31 and includes a two-phase exam, starting with a stress test followed by an ultrasound scan. After the screenings, five lucky patients will receive free off-pump coronary artery bypass or balloon angioplasty procedures.
Bangkok Hospital Pattaya is offering 205 free screenings, while Rayong will offer 150 and facilities in Chantaburi and Trat will offer 100 each.
