The Lawyer’s Council of Pattaya has taken the cold murder case of a Thepprasit Market vendor’s husband after police suggested she find witnesses.
Council Director Thanaset Thumthong said May 25 that he had told Oy Onsri, 56, that the council would represent her and press police to solve the killing, which occurred more than a year ago.
Oy appealed to the media for help two days earlier after Pattaya police told her they had no leads who killed Sonthaya Onsri, 56, and that she should find witnesses if she wanted justice.
She said investigating is the police department’s job and that they needed to do more than simply state the case had been reopened. She wanted action.
The council contacted lead investigator Pol. Lt. Col. Winai Horean and asked to see all the evidence collected and reports of what witnesses reported.
He claimed potential suspects are being targeted and hopefully things will come to a resolution soon.
Oy said she had been working at the market February 15, 2016, when she returned to her Nongprue home to find her husband lying in a pool of blood from an apparent bludgeoning. He died later in hospital.
She said the couple lived near an auto garage and her husband had argued with people there, who often drank and caused public disturbances.
Since her husband’s death, Oy said she has struggled to make ends meet, as she also cares for two grandchildren.
