Paitoon Pirom-on, owner of Chokdee Restaurant and Bar on Sukhumvit Road, recently opened up his business establishment for donations to assist flood victims in the south of the country.
Paitoon, otherwise known as Khun Lek, is a strong follower Buddhist teaching principles and believes in doing good deeds to help others. He decided to make merit by closing his restaurant on January 14-15 and instead open up as a donation collection station on both days.
Apart from contributing a fair amount personally and on behalf of the restaurant business, Khun Lek managed to draw a good amount of donations in through his business connections. Many of his close friends, regular customers and relatives came along with hefty supplies of mama noodles, new and used clothes, drinking water, medical kits and much more to support the cause. In total, over 1,400 shirts and 500 pairs of trousers were collected.
After two days of accumulating supplies, a vehicle organized by the Sawang Boriboon Foundation came to load all donations concerned and set off to the southern provinces where contacts were notified to distribute the items to those in desperate need.
Khun Lek would like to say a big ‘thank-you’ to all those who contributed or assisted in the collection.
