A delegation of Chinese businessmen met with Pattaya Mayor Itthiphol Kunplome, promising to pursue investments in Pattaya in coming years.
Shang Dianling, president of Zhonglian Construction Group, and other industrial executives met with the mayor at the Diana Garden Resort Dec. 9 his visit arranged by Alangkarn Theatre executive Suttikorn Jierphaithun.
Itthiphol outlined initiatives to improve transportation and infrastructure in the region, including parking garages, a marina, traffic-bypass tunnels, expansion of U-Tapao-Pattaya International Airport and the proposed high-speed train linking the city with Bangkok’s main airport.

The Chinese group said they were impressed by the government proposals, as well as the large number of Chinese tourists visiting the city. Shang said businesspeople were enticed by the Thai Immigration Department’s decision to grant Chinese investors six-month passport stamps to visit the kingdom.
Shang said he expects to see more Chinese investment in real estate, construction and tourism and proposed Pattaya enter into a trade agreement with the Hunan region, where his company is based, to build interest among its 10 million residents.
