The reigning Miss Tiffany Universe brought defamation charges against a Facebook user who created a copycat profile claiming the transgender beauty queen would marry anyone who gave her 2 million baht.
Rinrada Turapan and lawyer Kosit Kaewthrairat filed the complaint against the as-yet-unknown social media user at Pattaya Police Station March 6.
Rinrada said someone had created a profile using her photo and making public posts claiming she needed 2 million baht to care for her sick mother. The posts claimed the beauty queen would marry any man that gave her the money.
Rinrada asserted the profile – which is easily removed by filing a report with Facebook – defamed her character.
Pattaya Police Chief Apichai Kroppech said the matter will be investigated by the Technology Crime Division, which will attempt to trace the location and internet address of the computer that posted the profile.
