Monks at the Buddha Nimit Temple in Sriracha discovered that a five-meter-long python is behind the recent disappearances of several farm and domestic animals.
Monks and residents in the Surasak neighborhood caught the white-tailed python Nov. 19 as it was devouring a big dog on temple property. The animal died before it could be rescued.
Monks and helpers try to stretch out the long serpent in order to measure it.
Permanent Secretary Rangsan Attasaro said several dogs, cats and chickens had recently gone missing at the temple. He assumed locals had taken the animals, but found the true culprit when he heard – too late – the temple’s dog barking for help.
The monks caged the snake and planned to call the Khao Kheow Open Zoo for assistance.
