A legendary monk’s supposed magical powers couldn’t hide a Sattahip man from the police pursuing him for drug use.
Police arrived with an arrest warrant at a two-story wooden house in Moo 5 village Sept. 21, but couldn’t find the hoarder among all the garbage strewn around his home.
After a lengthy search, they discovered their 47-year-old suspect hiding behind a giant painting of Somdet Phra Phutthachan Phrommarangsi, one of the most famous Buddhist monks during the Rattanakosin Period.
Somdet To, as he is known, supposedly had magical powers, but they apparently didn’t transfer to images of him, and the suspect was found.
Police protected his identity because he agreed to be an informant.
