Witnesses report that a car driven by Narit Angsila was speeding when it struck a motorbike and took out a power pole. The motorcycle driver was killed in the accident.
Narit was trapped in his vehicle with rescuers unable to remove him due to live electric lines covering the vehicle. Once the Provincial Electricity Authority cut power, rescuers used cutting tools to remove him in about 30 minutes.
He was treated at a local hospital.
The resulting power cut put about 100 homes in the dark, but power was soon restored. Damage to the electrical pole was estimated at 150,000 baht. No damage estimate was given for the restaurant.
