Najomtien man arrested for motorbike thefts

Pattaya police have arrested a Najomtien man allegedly behind a string of local motorbike thefts.

Tam Wongsaroj, 36, was taken into custody July 21 and charged with conspiring to steal four motorbikes. Owners of the bikes were present at a police news conference to point out the suspect.

Police said Tam was spotted on Soi Buakhao behaving suspiciously and the motorbike that he was on was confirmed to be one of the missing bikes. He was confronted, arrested and confessed that he had stolen an additional three bikes, which were located behind the Nongkhetnoi police box in Nong Plalai.

He told the news conference he worked for a struggling furniture store, so he looked for bikes to steal that had keys left in the ignition so he could pawn the bikes for cash.
