Merchants called the 9th Naklua “walking street” market a success as local officials hosted its closing ceremony.
Pattaya City Councilman Sinchai Wattanasartsathorn presided over the Feb. 25 festivities with Banglamung District and Chonburi Cultural Council representatives.
The night featured art and cultural performances, folk dramas from Ayutthaya sponsored by the Department of Cultural Promotion and a concert from “morlam” music star Saoyae Jetiya.
Officially called “Naklua Walk & Eat”, the market was based at the Old Naklua Market and ran every Saturday and Sunday since Jan. 5 from 5-10 p.m.
The “walking street’ market aimed to promote Naklua as a tourism destination in its own right by showcasing the community’s heritage as a traditional fishing village.
