The Naval Security Division celebrated its 39th anniversary with a Buddhist ceremony.
Capt. Boonmee Kaewsanga was congratulated at the Oct. 21 anniversary event by Vice Adm. Wipak Noijinda, chief of staff for organic units at the Sattahip Naval Base. Capt. Boonmee also received congratulations from government and private organizations.
Ten monks from Sattahip Temple received alms, offered payers and enjoyed a luncheon. Merit-making was also done for Prince Abhakara Kiartivongse, Prince of Chumphon, and late naval officers.

Capt. Boonmee said the Naval Security Division was founded as the Coastal Artillery Division, Civil Division, and is charged with road construction and other infrastructure development.
It was made part of the Naval Guard Division when that unit was founded on June 28, 1962. On Oct, 22, 1976, the 4th infantry Battalion, Marines Department, was renamed the Naval Security Division to provide security for Sattahip Naval Base and became an organic unit of the Royal Thai Marine Corps.
