The Royal Thai Navy evacuated Rayong villages inundated by the second tropical storm of the season.

Sailors and aviators from the 1st Naval Area Command arrived in Tabma sub-district of Rayong’s Muang District Oct. 13. They first flew a Seahawk helicopter to survey the damage and look for people in distress. None were found stranded by the floodwaters, which reached the roofs of some houses.

Eighty sailors then were dispatched to evacuate families from their flooded homes.

The flooding came from heavy rain from tropical storm Mujigae which lashed the area from Oct. 2-6. Twenty low-lying villages were swamped even while Sukhumvit Road and Highway 36 remained passable.

Rescuers from the Royal Thai Navy take to the sky to search for people left in distress after tropical storm Mujigae swept through the area Oct. 2-6.

The same villages also were devastated by flooding from tropical depression Vamco in September. A royal relief agency supplied villagers there with food and supplies following that storm.
