The Sattahip Naval Base handed out more than 1.4 million baht in scholarships to children of navy personnel and government officials.
Vice Adm. Wipaks Noichinda chaired the annual education-support ceremony Nov. 17, handing out 422 scholarships.
Of the total, 38 were for university students at 4,500 baht each, 1,126 for the secondary and high school levels at 3,500 baht each, 182 for primary students at 3,000 baht each, 66 for kindergarteners at 3,000 baht each, and 10 for disabled naval officers’ children at 5,000 baht.
Wipaks said that the base places importance on education for sailors’ children and prepares funds each year to offset some of the cost of schooling.
