The Royal Thai Navy rescued 20 Fisheries Department officials stranded when their engine failed in rough seas off Sattahip.
Kanit Chuaphan radioed for help around 4 p.m. on May 29, saying the department vessel was adrift about 27 nautical miles from the Sattahip Naval Base.
Region 1 Navy officials sent the ships Luang Laemsarn and Khireerat out in poor visibility to locate the stranded boat and bring the fishermen home.
The boat was towed to the naval base pier to await repairs.
