Plutaluang residents have reached the breaking point over the broken-down Bang Pai Canal Bridge, which they say is close to collapse after years of neglect.
Bridge users have barraged Sattahip District with complaints to no avail. Now residents are reaching out to the media to warn about the dangerous state of the 10-meter-high bridge next to Queen Sirikit Naval Medical Center.
A check on the structure Nov. 28 found large cracks in the road’s surfaced and noticeable corrosion of joints and crumbling support beams.
Residents say they fear crossing the bridge now and are warning motorists to proceed slowly so as not to widen the cracks and cause the bridge to collapse.
