Sriracha officials aimed to “connect the hearts” of local Thais to Southern youths at the latest Sai Jai Thai Foundation cultural project.
District Chief Worakarn Boonnaraj opened the 29th round of the long-running project Oct. 21. Eight southern youths were brought to live with four Sriracha families, three of them Muslim, to create mutual understanding of cultures in the East and South.
Activities included signing a condolences book for the passing of HM the King, visiting homes of foster families, and joining together for a meal at Khao Kayai Mosque.
The project, which brings youths from the South to live in five eastern and central provinces, is an attempt by the government to win hearts and minds in the strife-ridden southern provinces.
It is hoped youths will bring knowledge and understanding gained from foster families in Chonburi to use in the South.
