The new commander of the Tourist Police Division in Pattaya laid out seven policies to officers under command.

Pol. Maj. Piyapong Ansan took over the top spot earlier this month, moving to Pattaya from Nakhon Ratchasima. He succeeds Pol. Lt. Col. Arun Promphan, who was transferred to the Human Trafficking Suppression Department in Bangkok.

Piyapong, a graduate of both the armed forces and police academies, also served at the Technology and Communications Directorate and headed the Chok Chai district police station in Nakhon Ratchasima.

Speaking to business leaders who came to the Tourist Police Station to welcome him Feb. 18, Piyapong said he is focused on policies that facilitate and provide safety for tourists.

He laid out for officers under his command seven policies, the first of which to keep safe the lives and assets of tourists and prevent and suppress crime.

Investigation and facilitating trials, maintaining national stability, serving tourists and locals, public relations, good management and strong command were among the other policies.
