Preparing for rainy season, Pattaya installed more pumps around the city to control chronic flooding.
City spokesman Pinit Maneerat said while flood-drainage is operating much better than in the past, heavy rain over the weekend of April 7-9 showed pumps are still necessary.
The pumps were placed at the Beach Road intersection with Soi 6/1 and at Walking Street, which also got new pipes to send water to a drainage cache.
Pumps also were placed at Sukhumvit Soi 33 at Soi Nongyai and on Thepprasit Soi 7 connection to Soi Chularat.
Maneerat also said Pattaya’s mayor sent word heavy emphasis should be put on the Sanitary Bureau and related agencies to be prepared for future situations, to be on the watch out and be ready to take action when floods happen, dealing with them as soon as possible.
When problems arise, he reminded people that the city’s 1337 call line is open 24/7.
