Bird, Nong Nooch Tropical Garden’s top breeding elephant, added to his impressive total of offspring with the July 16 birth of his 41st calf.
Lampoon, 28, gave birth to the male elephant, her third with Bird. Lampoon, a small elephant used to taxi tourists around the park, was pregnant for about two years.
Nong Nooch Director Kampol Tansajja said the birth came about a week earlier than expected, but both mother and calf were given checkups and were doing fine.
Nong Nooch is discussing a date for the new elephant’s naming ceremony and will host a media event to unveil its latest addition.
