Nongprue will install more warning signs and lights to prevent accidents around ongoing construction on Soi Khao Talo.
Engineering Department chief Thongchai Kamlangthai said June 18 that the sub-district also would co-ordinate with local police to direct traffic during the evening rush hour after contractors have knocked off for the day.
The moves come after Nongprue Councilman Wanchai Sangngam complained that the resurfacing of Soi Khao Talo, which began earlier this month, was causing chaos in East Pattaya.
One lane of the road currently is closed, causing massive congestion. And because the road surface currently is uneven, motorcycles are crashing and cars getting damaged. Contractors currently help direct traffic during working hours, but after they go home, no one is on site to keep things moving, he said.
The entire work site also has too few signs and not enough lights after dark, Wanchai said.
Construction is expected to run through July.
