Mayor Mai Chaiyanit coordinated the police checkpoint with Banglamung District, the Nongprue police station and the sub-district’s Peace and Order Maintenance Department from Dec. 30-Jan. 5, the so-called ‘seven dangerous days.”

Nationally, however, it wasn’t working: Through the first four days of the 2014-15 “dangerous days” accidents, injuries and deaths were on pace to exceed last year. From Dec. 30-Jan. 3, there were 260 deaths and 2,542 injuries from 2,446 accidents.
