Nongprue Sub-district began work to address flooding along Highway 7 by cleaning out its drains.
Crews Oct. 8 dug out mud and debris from the blocked drains after complaints from residents about continued flooding and the lack of progress on four-year-old plans to install larger drainage pipes.
Suvichan Suraban, director of the Special Highway Maintenance Department, conducted an inspection recently and confirmed that the drains can handle a certain amount of water and will prevent floods effectively, except that there is a lot of mud and rubbish that needs to be cleared out.
The pipelines are small and need to be replaced, but no estimate has been given on when that work might be completed.
