The Nongprue Council slammed the sub-district’s Public Health Department for sitting on 30 million baht it was supposed to use to hire a private garbage hauler.
The council in 2016 approved Public Health’s request to spend 10 million baht a year for three years to hire a private firm to haul away garbage in the sub-district’s Area 1. But three years later still no firm has been hired.
At an Aug. 15 meeting, Councilman Somchai Chimwiset demanded that public health Director Surapol Krimprasert explain why the department sat on the funds, depriving other units of funding when it was never used.
Somchai claimed the department tried to hire a contractor, but had to study what other sub-districts did and follow their steps and were never able to find a suitable company.
He vowed, however, that if the council grants his request for another 14 million baht for 2019, a company will be hired in short order, as the request also covered removal of hazardous waste.
