First it was sand, then mud, then dust. Nongprue residents have had enough.

Neighbors along Nongprue Road complained that sand deposited on the roadway turns into airborne dust after every rain, causing them breathing problems.

A 10-strong work crew took two water trucks to the dusty roadway March 26 to hose it down and get rid of the sand.

Neighbor Rojana Kaewsri said every time it rains, water flows into the area because the area doesn’t have any sewers. But when it dries, all the soil washed onto the road turns to dust.

The Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Department’s move will make breathing – and driving easier – but it’s only a temporary fix until the next rainfall.
