Nongprue is giving local merchants a chance to pad their profit margins with a free market the first Wednesday of every month.
Mayor Mai Chaiyanit opened the first market day Sept. 2 in front of the sub-district office.
The ‘Chill, Taste, Share’ project was the brainchild of the Social Security Department to promote community-made products.
Nongprue authorities have granted market space for residents to come and sell their items for free, which will take place the first Wednesday of the month beginning at 9 a.m.

The first market attracted a good crowd of both sellers and buyers. Sweets and homemade food were available for customers to taste throughout the day and products were offered at a considerable discount.
Mai also gave away 100 trays of eggs.
He said the project is another marketing strategy for local residents to showcase their products, goods and food. Part of the profits will support underprivileged people.
The next market day will be Oct. 7.
