Nongprue residents spruced up East Pattaya in another “do good for Dad” effort before the funeral of HM the late King Rama IX.
Sub-district council members Sanga Yuttanawa and Weera Thapkhan led the Oct. 25 cleanup on Soi Maptato 6 with civil servants and volunteers.
They picked up garbage and cleaned up the area before erecting a “no littering” sign.
Nongprue collects more than 100 tons of rubbish a day, an amount expected to grow. At the same time, the sub-district has struggled to deploy enough trucks and sites to dispose of the trash, leading to increased numbers of illegal dump sites.
Participants, which included sanitation department workers paid to pick up trash, said their cleanup effort was a chance to do a good deed in the late monarch’s name.
