Top regional police officials were on hand as Nongprue officers laid the corner stone for their new 22.4 million baht police station.
Provincial Police Region 2 commander Pol. Maj. Gen. Thanet Pinmueng-ngam presided over the Sept. 12 ceremony in Huay Nongkoh, near Nongprue Football Stadium 2. Nongprue police superintendent Pol. Col. Pramote Ngampradit carried out the honor of breaking ground.
Authorities invited monks from a well-known temple in eastern Thailand and its abbot, Wiboonthamkij to perform the chanting and blessing rites.
Nongprue Police Station used to be a branch of the Banglamung station and was located near the Nongprue Sub-district office with Pol. Col. Somnuk Changate in charge. It used sub-district offices as temporary headquarters.

Region 2 requested funds for a permanent station in 2012, but only 18.6 million baht was released this year. Another 3.8 million baht was donated by private sources for the 124 sq. meter building and the land it sits on.
Businessman Suwajchai Alchaliwiwat donated 300,000 baht and 200,000 baht each was kicked in by contractor Sanga Kijsamrej, his family’s P.S. Asia Progress Co. and Rattanakorn Asset Co.
Completion is scheduled before the end of next year.
