Banglamung police arrested two alleged members of a gang of grifters who target men on messaging apps and then rob them.
The unnamed Thai victim filed a complaint with police that he’d met a young woman on the Bee Talk app and agreed to meet her at a hotel on Soi Remand Prison.
However, on the way, he was stopped by two Thai men on a motorbike, one of whom claimed to be the woman’s husband. They demanded the victim turn over all his valuables in exchange for being spared a beating.
In this case, the man lost his Apple iPhone and 500 baht cash.
Police later were able to track down the woman and one alleged accomplice: Montien Nongnuch, 19, and Wanpen Pongsalee, 23.
The other two suspects escaped and arrest warrants have been issued.
